You ever have a week where nothing bad happens, but it still feels like you've lived five lives since Monday? That’s me right now. I swear it’s been Thursday since early Tuesday morning. I’m not entirely sure what year it is anymore.
But the upside of this long, weird week? Plenty to share in this edition—some music, some pasta, a prom moment and a fluffy cow. Let’s get to gettin'!

Dinner At My House
Martha’s Slow Cooker Lasagna Is The Real Deal
This recipe is one of my all-time favorites: Martha Stewart’s Slow Cooker Sausage Lasagna. It’s hearty, stacked (not sloshy) and easy enough for a weeknight but fancy enough for company. Bonus: it reheats beautifully and makes enough to live off for a few days. Todd and the kids are fans. I pair it with a basic salad and some garlic bread, and that’s dinner done!
Start early—it takes a few hours. Or be a grown-up and prep the sauce the night before.
Also, here’s a slow cooker similar to my 13-year-old model. It's seriously nothing fancy, but the stovetop-safe insert comes in handy!

Turn It Up!
Janet's Still Got Me
If you've seen a tall blonde man passionately dancing and singing at traffic lights this week, just smile and wave—it’s me. I’ve had Janet Jackson’s "Love Will Never Do (Without You)" on loop. That song. That video. That cheekbone contour. It’s 1990s perfection, and I’ll never ever ever be over it.
And let’s not ignore the real star of the video: Antonio Sabato Jr., looking like the hottest man to ever walk shirtless through the desert. It should be illegal to be that good-looking.

Snapped
From Prom to Pasture
Two incredible photos this week. First up: Claire before prom, looking absolutely stunning in her navy dress and sparkly clutch (borrowed from my closet, obviously). She may not have my genes, but she’s got my eye for accessorizing.
And then there's Maggie’s Scottish Highland cows, fresh from the spring pastures of Red Oak, Iowa. Between Karen’s alpacas last week and Maggie’s cows, this newsletter is dangerously close to becoming Cooped Up: Barnyard Edition. And honestly? I’m fine with that.

Words To Live By
"Life is simple, but we insist on making it complicated."
- Confusious
A timeless reminder for all of us...especially those of us who needed four outfit changes before sitting down to write this newsletter. Simplicity is a choice...one I keep meaning to make.

That’s it for this week! Let me know what you think, and as always: hit reply, tell me what you loved (or didn’t), and forward this to someone who needs a lasagna, a peak-90's jam or a cow in their inbox.
In case you missed last week’s edition, it was a little bit of everything: my favorite self-tanner, free summer programs for kids (you’re welcome, fellow parents) and how to get free Narcan shipped to your home. It was practical, heartfelt and just the right amount of extra!

P.S. If you enjoyed Cooped Up, forward it to a friend who could use a little more humor, honesty, and mildly questionable life advice in their inbox. Sharing is caring—or at least good for my ego. |
